ESAB OK 53.16 is a double coated electrode combining the running characteristics of a rutile with the mechanical properties of a basic electrode. The double coating enables it to be used with small transfomers with low OCV. The root penetration is good, leaving a flat bead with easily removable slag. The stable arc and the well-balanced slag system make the electrode easy to weld in all positions. OK 53.16 welds on both AC and DC.
Well suited for the one-sided welding of pipes and general structures, as well as for maintenance jobs, including repair of earthmoving equipment and as a buffer layer for hard facing.
