How Often Do Adflo PAPR Filters Need to be Changed?
If you’re relying on an Adflo PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) for welding, proper maintenance is key to staying safe, productive, and compliant. Knowing when to replace Adflo filters, tubes, and other consumables ensures you always have clean airflow and extend the life of your system.
In this article, we share basic tips on how often to change your Adflo PAPR spare parts so your equipment performs at its best.
Adflo Particle Filter – Replace Monthly
Your Adflo particle filter is the first line of defence against harmful dust and fumes.
Replace it as soon as:
- The filter indicator turns red
- The low airflow alarm is triggered
- Battery operating time becomes too short
On average, expect to change this filter at least once per month.
Adflo Pre-Filter – Replace Weekly
Your Adflo pre-filter should be changed once or twice a week. Doing this reduces the workload on the particle filter, improves airflow, and extends battery life. A small change here saves money in the long run.
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend replacing your Adflo particle filter after every five pre-filters used.
Adflo Gas Filter – As Per Workplace Regulations
Gas filter replacement depends on safety regulations at your workplace. Never rely on smell or taste as an indicator - it’s not reliable. Always follow official guidelines.
Adflo Odour Filter – When You Smell Odours (not required if you have a gas filter)
The rule is simple: if you can smell an odour, it’s time for a replacement. To save costs, you can swap out the odour filter pad instead of buying a full filter.
Adflo Spark Arrestor – Inspect Regularly
Check your spark arrestor often and replace it if:
- It’s damaged
- Shows breakthrough
- No longer fits correctly
A well-maintained spark arrestor protects both you and your Adflo PAPR system.
Adflo Breathing Tube – Replace if Damaged
Your breathing tube should be replaced immediately if damaged or leaking.
To increase its lifespan, consider:
- Using a breathing tube cover
- Upgrading to a heavy-duty rubber breathing tube
Why Regular Adflo Maintenance Matters
Replacing your Adflo PAPR consumables on time ensures:
- Cleaner, safer air supply
- Longer battery life and system efficiency
- Lower long-term costs
- Compliance with workplace safety standards
A well-maintained Adflo welding respirator doesn’t just keep you protected - it helps you work smarter and safer every day.
Note: The recommended timeframes in this article are based on an average of 4+ hours of daily use. Depending on your work environment and applications, replacement frequency may vary.
